Mohammad-Bagher Kharazi, the secretary general of Iran Hezbollah and the brother of Masoud Khamenei’s wife, said Mojtaba Khamenei has warned Masoud Pezeshkian that if he requests resignation again, this time his resignation will be accepted.

Iran International also reported on 10 Khordad, citing an informed source, that Pezeshkian had, by sending an official letter to Mojtaba Khamenei’s office, called for an immediate stepping down from his position as head of the government.

Kamyar Behrang, a member of Iran International’s editorial staff, said that the refusal to accept Pezeshkian’s resignation and now the introduction of this warning do not mean an increase in Pezeshkian’s power within the government structure. Rather, it shows that Mojtaba Khamenei has conveyed to him that his government will not have more authority and that he can no longer complain about his lack of power.
