Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State said that the Islamic Republic has not only clearly shown that it is seeking to become a nuclear-weapon power; something that should never be allowed to happen, but that this country and this regime are at the center of all instability in the Middle East.

Rubio added: “There is instability in Lebanon because Iran supports Hezbollah. Saudi Arabia is targeted because Iran supports the Houthis. Iraq is also a country facing challenges, because Iranian-backed militias are challenging the government of this country.”

He added: “No matter which side you look at, you see one of Iran’s proxy forces undermining peace and stability in the Middle East.”

Rubio also, referring to the suppression of people in Iran, said: “This is a regime that massacred its own people. You can only imagine what it would do to others if it got its hands on weapons of mass destruction.”

The U.S. Secretary of State continued: “The Islamic Republic is blowing up ships; including ships in which, for example, Indian sailors are present.”
