🔺Israeli media: Britain threatened to expel 27 Israeli diplomats

▪ Walla Net reported that Britain has threatened to expel 27 Israeli diplomats to London if it shuts down its consulate in East Jerusalem.

▪ Based on this report, Simon Walters, the British ambassador to Israel, conveyed this message to Israeli officials. London said it will expel one Israeli diplomat for each British diplomat whose work in East Jerusalem ends.

▪ The 27 diplomats from Britain work in this consulate, which provides services to Palestinians. Israel has given them 30 days to leave, and the closure is expected to take effect around October 7 (Mehr 16).

▪ The British Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office declined to comment on the report but did not deny it.
