Iran’s state television reported that a region on the border strip of Piranshahr in West Azerbaijan province was targeted by a U.S. airstrike.

In the report, it said: “A region on the border strip of Piranshahr was targeted by an airstrike from the American enemy.”

Earlier, Fars News Agency, citing a provincial official in West Azerbaijan, reported that a missile had hit an uninhabited area and had caused no casualties.

The U.S. Central Command has not yet confirmed the attack or commented on it. There is also no independent confirmation for this report.

Piranshahr is in the west of West Azerbaijan province and near the border with Iraq. Five days ago, the city was also targeted by an airstrike, according to a report by the provincial Crisis Management Organization to IRNA.
