🔻Iran’s president once again defended the Iran–U.S. understanding that had been reached through Pakistan’s mediation.
Masoud Pezeshkian, in a meeting with reformist figures and social activists, while defending diplomacy with the United States, called on them to support the promotion of negotiations among public opinion.
The official website of the Iranian presidency, citing Pezeshkian, wrote: “The agreement that was reached, in no way, harmed our dignity; rather, it required the United States to commitments that were supposed to be implemented in a step-by-step manner.”
The Iranian president stressed that Iran had not backed down on any of the provisions of this agreement from its principles.
The understanding in Islamabad was set aside after Iran’s attack on three ships in the Strait of Hormuz and then the resumption of Iran’s maritime blockade by the U.S. Army.
Iran has recently said that it has offered a similar proposal to the United States and that it has received the U.S. response through the intermediaries.
