🔻 Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, reposted recent remarks by Germany’s chancellor on his account on the social network X, writing: “Last year, when the bombing of Iran by Israel and the United States began, Mr. Merz welcomed it and said, ‘They are doing Europe’s dirty work.’”

He added: “€100 billion is nothing in the face of the devastating blow that Iran’s powerful armed forces will deliver to those who dare to harm our people.”

Mr. Araghchi also said: “There are no more red lines.”

Friedrich Merz, Germany’s chancellor, said on Friday at the end of his trip to South Korea: “I can only ask all the parties involved to accept that this dispute has no military solution.”

He also said that his country is economically interested in ending the war quickly, and that the increase in energy prices has so far imposed more than €100 billion in costs on Europe.
