🔻 Coalition led by Saudi Arabia says it shot down a drone over the eastern oil region

A coalition led by Saudi Arabia said early Saturday that it tracked and destroyed a drone over the “Eastern Region” of Saudi Arabia, which is an oil-producing area.

The Eastern Region, which is considered the economic hub of Saudi Arabia, has been targeted repeatedly by Houthi attacks in recent weeks.

This region holds a large share of Saudi Arabia’s oil and gas reserves, and it is also home to the headquarters of the giant oil company Aramco; the company suffered extensive damage during an attack in early October.

Fighting between the Saudi-led coalition and the Houthis has intensified amid the backdrop of the United States’ war against Iran, opening another front in this dispute.
