Iran awaits US response on ceasefire proposal
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi says Tehran is waiting for Washington’s official response to its latest ceasefire proposal, which was conveyed through Qatari mediators.
Iran’s proposal, known as the “seven-day plan,” has also been conveyed to Washington through Qatar, Araqchi said.
The plan calls for an end to hostilities in Iran and Lebanon, the unfreezing of Iranian assets, an end to sanctions on Iranian oil and the lifting of the US blockade on Iranian ports.
In return, Iran would allow the Strait of Hormuz to reopen and resume talks with the US on its nuclear program.
Araqchi said he was returning to Tehran and that Qatar would convey any US response to Iranian officials.
