🔻Barak Ravid, a reporter for the US publication Axios, says he learned through a government official and another source that Marco Rubio, the U.S. secretary of state, informed the Iranian diplomatic delegation—headed by Abbas Araghchi, this country’s foreign minister—that they should leave New York.

Barak Ravid said the message from Marco Rubio was conveyed to the Iranian delegation by the United States’ representative to the United Nations, even though Araghchi’s return flight from New York on Monday evening, as scheduled, departed for Doha.

In his report, Barak Ravid wrote:

“Just a few hours later, the Iranian delegation, including Abbas Araghchi, went to the airport and at 1:20 a.m. on Tuesday took a flight from New York to Doha. A second source also confirmed that the United States had asked the Iranian delegation to leave New York, but said that Araghchi had been scheduled to return to Tehran already for the evening of Monday.”

Ahead of leaving New York, Mr. Araghchi told journalists that Iran’s proposed plan had been delivered to the U.S. government through Qatar.
