🔶 Former Israeli security official warns of the possibility of an Islamic Republic attack

Meir Ben-Shabat, the former head of Israel’s National Security Council, has warned that increasing pressure on the Islamic Republic could push Tehran toward a direct attack on Israel.

In an interview with the Maariv newspaper, he said the Iranian government is still under severe pressure, but has not yet reached a state of desperation. Ben-Shabat, who is considered one of the architects of the Abraham Accords, also warned that any future agreement between Washington and Tehran could serve as a “strategic lifeline” for the Islamic Republic.

He said: “The consequences of an America-Iran agreement will be very severe, even if it does not affect Israel’s freedom of action.” According to the former Israeli official, escalating pressures on Tehran can still make the Islamic Republic’s behavior even more unpredictable and increase the risk of direct action against Israel.
