The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency says this UN nuclear watchdog has completed a large part of the technical preparations needed to verify Iran’s nuclear activities.

Rafael Grossi said the Agency is ready to carry out the necessary technical measures for verification with the aim of supporting negotiations between Iran and the United States.

He said, with emphasis on the fact that a sustainable and stable resolution of tensions over Tehran’s nuclear program requires reaching a diplomatic agreement, that he hopes the negotiations between Tehran and Washington will make progress with the support of regional and international partners, including Pakistan, Qatar, Oman and Egypt.

Grossi said independent verification by the Agency is necessary for any diplomatic agreement regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
