Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, said on Friday, referring to the increase in oil transit through the Strait of Hormuz—which, according to The Wall Street Journal and with the actions of the U.S. military, has exceeded the pre-war level—that despite the Islamic Republic’s efforts to disrupt energy shipments, the volume of oil exports from the Persian Gulf has accelerated beyond the level before the clashes.

He said, “The message is clear: [Islamic Republic] threats have not been able to stop the flow of energy transfers to global markets.”
