Rouhollah Rahimpour, journalist and political analyst, said that the Islamic Republic, when dealing with the United States, first tries to buy time by showing readiness for negotiations and reduce the possible costs of war.

According to him, if this approach does not yield results, Tehran may turn to military confrontation; because it considers the cost of backing down to be greater than continuing the confrontation.
