🔻The White House announced that Melania Trump, the First Lady of the United States, has mediated to establish a temporary ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine in her first war-torn city.

The city is located in Kherson Province in southern Ukraine and has been under the occupation of Russian forces since 2022. The human situation in the city has been reported as dire, and some residents have resorted to eating weeds from the gardens to survive.

According to the White House, the ceasefire is set to begin on Thursday, October 29, to allow humanitarian aid to be sent and civilians, especially the elderly, to be evacuated.

Melania Trump said: “The situation in Oleshky is critical. This city is at the forefront of the war and on the brink of catastrophe.”

Russia and Ukraine have confirmed a local agreement on a ceasefire.

Melania Trump began independent diplomatic activities regarding the war in Ukraine in October 2025. Her office says that so far the First Lady of the United States has helped secure the return of more than 30 children separated from their families during the war.
