Hassan Mansour, an economist, said that capital flight, reduced public trust in the rial, and the government’s policies to make up for the budget deficit are the main factors behind the increase in the exchange rate.

According to him, the rise in the value of foreign currency, in addition to directly making imported goods more expensive, also raises the prices of other goods by creating inflation expectations and pushes people and sellers to purchase and to price based on higher future rates.
