🔶 End of the operations of Kremlin-critic newspaper “Novaya Gazeta”

The Russian newspaper “Novaya Gazeta,” founded by Dmitry Muratov, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, is ending its work after more than 30 years of activity, amid intense pressures in Russia.

The newspaper’s website wrote in a text titled “They killed us” that Russian officials and Russian intelligence organizations forced the editorial staff to stop its activities.

The text says that on November 9 (Aban 18), the editorial members “turn off the lights, take the servers offline, and leave.”

Novaya Gazeta is considered one of the most critical media outlets in Russia and has always been under pressure. Earlier this month, it marked the 20th anniversary of the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, a journalist for this newspaper.
