🔶 Growth of the US economy in the third quarter exceeded forecasts
The U.S. economy grew by 3.4% in the third quarter of 2026; this growth is higher than the 2.2% growth in the previous quarter and the market forecast of 3.2%.
According to the initial estimate by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, released on Thursday, October 29 (Aban 7), the increase in investment and government spending were the main factors behind this acceleration. In contrast, falling exports and faster growth in imports partially offset this increase.
At the same time, price pressures eased. The Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index rose by 2.1% on an annualized basis, while that figure was 5% in the previous quarter. Growth in this index excluding food and energy also fell from 3.3% to 2.5%.
