US ‘abusing state power’ in planned Chinese telecom ban

China's foreign ministry firmly opposed US plans to ban Chinese telecom firms from direct access to US phone numbers, accusing Washington of abusing state power and overextending national security.

Spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated China will take necessary measures to protect its legitimate rights.

The US Federal Communications Commission will vote November 19 on a proposal to block China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, and other IP-enabled providers from direct access, citing national security.
