The cost of Iran’s war is the main focus of today’s reports and analyses in American media; a cost that is not measured only in the billions of dollars in military spending or in higher oil prices.

Bloomberg reports on misinformation that led to a deadly attack on a school in Minab. The Washington Post writes about the number of U.S. military personnel killed, which is higher than the official figures of the Pentagon, and CNN puts the direct cost of the war at more than $43 billion.

Meanwhile, the Washington Post warns about the broader consequences of the war for the global economy.

In an investigative report, Bloomberg examines a chain of intelligence and operational failures in the U.S. that led to the deadly attack on the “Shajare Taybe” elementary school in Minab on February 28; an attack in which around 120 children and, in total, nearly 200 people were killed, and which is considered one of the deadliest cases of civilian casualties in U.S. military operations in recent decades.

According to Bloomberg’s findings, the U.S. had registered the site years earlier as a potential target, as an IRGC naval forces facility. However, an intelligence analyst in 2019 noticed that the use of the place had changed and that it had been turned into an elementary school, and he recorded this in a digital intelligence system.
