Eurostat, the European Union’s statistics office, reported that annual inflation in August increased to 3.2 percent. In the same period last year, this figure was about 2.4 percent.

Romania, with 6.5 percent, recorded the highest inflation rate, and Lithuania and Cyprus are next. Sweden, at 0.3 percent, had the lowest inflation rate in the European Union, and Estonia and the Czech Republic also experienced the smallest price increases after Sweden.

Despite the Islamic Republic’s efforts to disrupt global energy markets, inflation in the EU’s energy sector over the 12 months ending in August (annual inflation) was less than 1.3 percent, and the highest inflation rate was recorded in the services sector.

However, Eurostat data shows that the inflation rate in the European Union is on an upward trend.
