He also said that the municipality has stated that paving the river was due to the accumulation of sludge, garbage, and the creation of an unpleasant smell. In recent days, images of paving the bed of the Aligoodarz River were published, which prompted reactions from some citizens and social media users.

Mohammad Latifi, the mayor of Aligoodarz, said yesterday that “there is no steady and continuous flow of water in the river,” and that the municipality uses “the capacities of the riverbed for various uses, including urban service uses.”

Some users expressed concern about negative impacts on the environment and the risk of flooding in the event of heavy rainfall. According to the municipality, the Hajoyanians dam is located upstream on the Aligoodarz River, and flood and overflow-related cases of the river are fully managed.
