مرتضی کاظمیان، a member of the Iran International editorial board, referring to the trip of senior military and security officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan to Tehran, said that the positions of officials of the Islamic Republic after these meetings—including Masoud Pezeshkian’s emphasis on the continuation of the nuclear program and Mohsen Rezaei’s threats against the countries of the region—show that the government either does not understand the government or the dimensions of the crisis, or, despite being aware of the situation, is pursuing policies that could push Iran toward a costly war.
