🔻Jordan’s government said on Monday that the country’s air force targeted “militants’ hideouts” in southern Syria.

According to the Jordanian government, the move came after it was determined that the attackers involved in last week’s deadly attack on a church were linked to “terrorist groups” active in Syria.

Jordanian armed forces said the operation was carried out in coordination with Damascus; however, Syrian officials have not yet commented on the matter.

Last Friday, following a shooting inside a church in the village of Hamoud in Karak province, at least seven people were killed and 10 others were injured.

In the aftermath of the incident, King Abdullah II of Jordan ordered that the country’s security forces confront the perpetrators of the attack with an “iron fist.”

Abdullah described the church as a “heinous terrorist act” and emphasized that regarding the lives of Jordanian citizens, no leniency is acceptable.
