«A diplomatic source» from the Islamic Republic, in response to the remarks Donald Trump made on Monday to CBS News, said: «The main issue is that it appears the U.S. president does not have a clear position on what he wants from the negotiations.»

The source, whom CBS News did not identify by name, added: «This has made it difficult to move from talks toward a specific agreement.»

In a conversation with reporters at the White House, Trump said that the United States would «very soon» win the war against the Islamic Republic.

He said: «We prevented Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons. They understand it themselves and are willing to acknowledge it.»

Trump also said that U.S. officials spoke with intermediaries of the Islamic Republic on Monday, and added: «In any way, it will end up one way or another and will move very quickly.»
