🔻USS George H. W. Bush aircraft carrier arrives in Phuket, Thailand, for crew rest

The aircraft carrier USS George H. W. Bush arrived at the Phuket port in Thailand on Sunday (October 4) for a period of rest and recreation for about 4,800 of its crew.

According to media reports, the carrier has been providing support for U.S. operations for months amid tensions with Iran.

Reuters, citing local media, reported that the carrier will anchor in coastal waters, but its crew is expected to go ashore on Sunday and spend five days on this island.

The visit follows the stop last month by the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier in the port of Laem Chabang. According to estimates, about five thousand crew members of this carrier spent the equivalent of three million U.S. dollars in that area.
