The UN Security Council strongly condemned the increasing attacks by Yemen’s Houthi forces against Saudi Arabia and stressed that the country has the right to defend itself in accordance with international law.

Security Council members called on the Houthi forces, supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran, to immediately put an end to the escalation of military operations and attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure.

The Council also expressed concern about the consequences of the continued fighting on Yemen’s humanitarian situation, regional security, and international shipping, and called for efforts to reach a political solution.
