🔸UN experts on Thursday urged officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran to end the increasing trend of arbitrary detentions, enforced disappearances, torture and other forms of mistreatment, as well as arbitrary executions against ethnic minorities, especially Kurdish and Baluch minorities.

🔸The statement said that since the start of protests in Dey 1404, reports indicate that officials of the Islamic Republic have detained thousands of people and subjected many of them to torture and other forms of mistreatment in order to obtain confessions. In many cases, people who were deprived of their liberty in this connection also faced enforced disappearance.

🔸These experts added in a statement: “Reports point to a significant increase in arbitrary detentions and the issuance of rulings that appear to have a political motivation, including against individuals belonging to ethnic minorities; people who are often detained on the basis of broad and vague national security allegations.”
