🔻Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on Tuesday that after condemning Ukraine’s drone attack on an Iranian ship, he spoke by phone with Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araqchi.

Mr. Sybiha wrote in a post on the X social network on Tuesday that during the call he emphasized the need to refrain from any action that would be conducive to tensions, and asked Iran to end any support for Russia’s war against Ukraine.

He wrote: “I emphasized that any action that could lead to tensions must be avoided, and that all support for Russia’s war against Ukraine must be stopped. This war is illegal and must end.”

Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s foreign minister, also announced in a post on the X social network that Andrii Sybiha had assured him that the attack on the Iranian ship was not intentional and that Kyiv is not seeking to escalate tensions.

Mr. Araqchi added: “Iran also is not seeking to escalate tensions, but stressed that any attack on Iranian citizens or interests is unacceptable and that the damages caused must be compensated.”
