🔻A tribute ceremony for Lindsey Graham, the Republican senator who died on July 11 at the age of 71, is taking place at the U.S. Capitol. In addition to the late Mr. Graham’s close relatives, hundreds of American lawmakers are gathering at the U.S. Capitol. Some world leaders have also traveled to the American capital to take part in the ceremony. Senator Graham was from the state of South Carolina and was elected to the U.S. Senate four times. In the early years of his political career, he was considered a fierce critic of Donald Trump, the U.S. president, but later became one of his loyal allies in Congress. He was one of the well-known figures in the conservative movement and a hardline opponent of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Last winter, he had attended a gathering of opponents of the Iranian government in Germany and delivered a speech. Senator John Thune, the Senate majority leader from the Republican Party, (left) and J.D. Vance, the U.S. vice president, were also present at the ceremony. Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, and Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, also traveled to the United States to participate in events related to honoring Lindsey Graham.
