🔶 UEFA threatened Infantino with legal action

After the failure of the plan to attract an investor, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) threatened FIFA president Gianni Infantino with legal action. The Telegraph and the Financial Times reported that UEFA has asked the head of the world football federation to preserve all documents and evidence related to the investment plan and to refrain from destroying them. No official confirmation has been published yet.

Andreas Rettig, executive director of the German Football Association (DFB), said that the relationship with Infantino has been irreparably damaged in the long term. In an interview with Stern magazine, he said: “From my perspective, the issue is the loss of trust, which can no longer be repaired; and this issue is not only limited to the German Football Association.”

Rettig attributed the reason for this to, on the one hand, “how this decision was made, namely behind closed doors, and also the unfair promises and incentives that were offered.” He also criticized the content of the proposals and said: “This shows that, at present, people who have come from outside the world of football are surrounding Mr. Infantino.”
