🔻U.S. CENTCOM again denies “ships hitting sea mines” in the Strait of Hormuz
The U.S. Central Command headquarters (CENTCOM) has again denied reports of Iranian sea mines being struck by vessels when transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, CENTCOM called the Iranian media reports about a strike on a sea mine while passing through the Strait of Hormuz “false claims,” and once again emphasized that the U.S. military has cleared mines from “all the main shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz that are recognized internationally.”
CENTCOM said in the statement that thousands of vessels have transited those routes with complete safety.
In recent days, a CENTCOM official, in an interview with Al Jazeera, also denied the claim that two supertankers caught fire and exploded following a collision with a sea mine, and said that Iran uses drones and missiles to attack vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
