The Wall Street Journal today, citing U.S. officials and people familiar with the matter, reported that JD Vance, the deputy vice president of the United States, sent a letter to Mohsen Rezaei, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, with the aim of reviving peace talks.

This comes while Donald Trump, the U.S. president, has recently threatened several times that he may start a war against Iran.

Despite this, on Wednesday, Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, said that Tehran is still in close contact with mediators to discuss ways to ensure the implementation of the seven-day plan proposed by Iran.
