Two special envoys of the US president have postponed their planned trip to Moscow to see whether Ukraine and European countries are ready to accept a new proposal for Vladimir Putin.
Axios, citing its own sources, wrote that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have halted the trip at least until the positions of Kyiv and Europe are clarified. The contents of the proposal have not been announced.
One Ukrainian official told Axios that Witkoff and Kushner warned that Donald Trump, the US president, could cut off information sharing if Kyiv ignores his demands.
A US official denied this and said the envoys described the United States as a strong partner that provides ammunition and information to Ukraine.
American and Ukrainian negotiators met in Miami last week.
The Financial Times reported that the United States has told European countries that if Ukraine’s attacks on Russian refineries continue, it may halt arms sales to Kyiv via NATO channels.
