🔸Two Iranian officials in talks with The New York Times confirm Tehran’s attempt to target Americans

Two senior Iranian officials, in talks with The New York Times, have confirmed that Tehran is preparing to target American diplomats and personnel. The two people—whose names have not been disclosed, and one of whom is a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—told the newspaper that targeting American officials, in light of the deaths of a large number of Iranian officials and some of their family members in attacks by the United States and Israel, is an action that is “permitted and acceptable.”

Meanwhile, an American official also told The New York Times that there is evidence indicating that Tehran has operational agents on American soil who “are not simply Iranian nationals.”

The publication of this report comes as U.S. intelligence director G. Clayton, in a recent letter addressed to Marco Rubio, the country’s secretary of state, warned that the Islamic Republic has “significantly increased” its efforts to target Americans in the Middle East and other parts of the world.
