🔸 TUI tourism group: The impact of the Middle East war on travel bookings is declining
The German company TUI, the largest tourism group in the world, announced that the impact of the war in the Middle East on travel bookings is declining and that the demand trend is gradually returning to normal.
Europe’s tourism industry is going through a volatile summer. The war by the United States and Israel against Iran has increased the price of aircraft fuel, and at the same time, a heat wave and widespread wildfires in Spain, France, Portugal and Greece have affected tourists’ travel plans.
TUI said that booked revenue for the summer season fell by 6% compared with the same period last year. However, the company says that bookings have increased by 7% over the past four weeks and that signs of demand returning are visible. TUI has reported a renewed interest among passengers in destinations in the Eastern Mediterranean.
According to the company, after several months of geopolitical uncertainty, some travelers are again putting trips to this region on their schedules.
