🔶 Trump criticizes release of five suspects in bomb plot near U.S. base in Britain
Donald Trump, the president of the United States, on Monday, October 6 (September 28), criticized the release of five suspects in a bomb plot near a U.S. base in Britain, saying that British police should not have released these suspects on bail.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office of the White House, Trump said, “I’m surprised they let them go. I wouldn’t have done it,” adding that the case could be “connected to Iran.”
The U.S. president, continuing to respond to reporters’ requests for more details, said: “I’d rather not say. I mean, I know the answer; I could speak very specifically, but I’d rather not say anything. I wouldn’t release them.”
He also added that British officials had been “very closely” cooperating with the United States in this matter.
Meanwhile, Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, told Fox News that in the incident there is “clearly the footprint of a foreign actor.”
