🔸With counting most of the votes in Israel’s parliamentary election, Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition, the prime minister, won the most seats and although it did not reach a majority of 61 seats, the results show that Netanyahu will remain in power at least as acting prime minister.
🔸According to a report by three of Israel’s main television networks, with counting of nearly 86 percent of the votes cast by the morning of Wednesday, 6 Aban, Netanyahu’s coalition, made up of right-wing parties, far-right parties, and ultra-Orthodox Jews, is on track to win 53 parliamentary seats; a figure that is far higher than the 48 seats predicted for the opposition coalition led by Gadi Eisenkot.
🔸The parties representing Israeli citizens of Arab descent, following a high turnout of voters with high motivation, are set to win 19 seats in total, which is an unprecedented number for these parties.
🔸As the vote counting continues, the results may still change, but it appears Eisenkot’s chances of victory have become very weak.
