Shayan Sami’i, a security expert, referring to the Islamic Republic’s record and the differences between Tehran and Washington over the nuclear program, said he is not optimistic about a lasting agreement between the two sides.

He emphasized that any limited understanding to halt hostilities, without setting a cost for violations of the Islamic Republic’s commitments, can only be “a bandage for a wound” and could provide the government with an opportunity to reassert its strength.
