The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, the sixth of Aban, citing American officials and people familiar with the matter, reported that JD Vance, the deputy U.S. president, has sent a letter to Mohsen Rezai, the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic.

The newspaper wrote that Vance is trying to engage with one of the most powerful hardline figures in the Islamic Republic in order to revive peace negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

These efforts are taking place while Donald Trump, the U.S. president, has threatened that after next week’s midterm elections, he will resume the war.
