Switzerland’s representative at the session of the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, 6 Aban, referring to the findings of the independent international fact-finding team, said that some cases of human rights violations in Iran since September 2025 (Mehr 1404) are, according to this team, instances of crimes against humanity.
He, condemning the use of the death penalty, called for an end to executions, the commutation of death sentences into other punishments, and support for human rights defenders, journalists, lawyers, and the families of the victims.
The Swiss representative also emphasized that the officials of the Islamic Republic must observe the principles of due process and provide unhindered access to UN bodies.
He also, referring to the long-standing internet shutdown in Iran, asked about the future of internet governance in this country.
