🔶 The US has sanctioned 10 entities and eight oil tankers linked to Iran
The U.S. Treasury Department announced another round of sanctions on Iran, covering eight oil tankers and 10 entities.
The ministry said that the sanctions were imposed to counter Iran’s efforts to “generate revenue from the Strait of Hormuz,” and that six of the sanctioned entities are based in China.
The United States also says that two companies—according to the Treasury Department—have been sanctioned as they play a key role in Iran’s revenue-generating scheme from ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
Under this plan, the revenues are obtained through various insurance policies and the acquisition of digital assets and other financial sources from passing ships.
The sanctions were announced after U.S. President Donald Trump, in an interview with Fox News, promised to hit Iran with “a hard blow.” The remarks were made after the U.S. Army said it had tracked several ballistic missiles fired by Iran toward American forces in the Middle East.
