🔻The United States has imposed sanctions on several individuals and entities linked to Hamas financing

Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, says that Washington will continue identifying and targeting those who provide the financial resources Hamas needs; at the same time, the U.S. Treasury Department has announced sanctions on several individuals and entities for transferring more than two million dollars to Hamas through so-called charitable institutions and digital currencies.

The U.S. Treasury Department said that its Office of Foreign Assets Control has sanctioned a member of Hamas’s military wing, two individuals based in France, and two affiliated entities.

According to the ministry, the sanctioned individuals and entities played roles in a network that, over several years, transferred more than two million dollars to Hamas through fake charitable institutions and digital currencies.

Mr. Bessent wrote on the X social network that groups like Hamas rely on “sophisticated financial facilitators and deceptive schemes” to continue their activities, and that the U.S. Treasury Department will continue identifying, isolating, and punishing those who provide Hamas with the “vital routes” for financing.
