🔻Israeli officials are interrogating the co-pilot of a FlyDubai flight

A person familiar with the investigation told Reuters that Israeli officials are expected to interrogate the co-pilot, who is accused of attempting to bring down a FlyDubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv.

The co-pilot, on Wednesday, after he stabbed the plane’s captain with a knife, Israeli officials said, attempted to take control of the aircraft. Passengers and crew restrained him, and a group of reserve pilots who were on the flight landed the plane at an airport in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.

The suspect was first detained in Saudi Arabia and on Thursday transferred to the United Arab Emirates.

An Israeli government official told Reuters that Israeli investigators, in an inquiry led by the UAE, will participate to determine what happened and the suspect’s motive and background.

Reuters’ source did not say which Israeli agency or organization would take part in interrogating the suspect.
