🔻The head of the trade association of travel agencies in Tehran province says travel agencies are among the main businesses that have suffered the most damage from the war.
Behrooz Safary, in an interview with ISNA, referring to the widespread closure of offices and the decline in travel as a result of the war, said that out of about “6,000 agencies with licenses, perhaps only one-sixth of them are currently actually active.”
He also estimated the initial amount of damage caused to travel services offices at about “two thousand billion tomans” and said that many agencies have been facing stagnation and underperformance for more than a year.
Referring to rising costs and fluctuations in the exchange rate, he said that agencies organizing outbound tours have been facing even greater problems due to constant changes in the exchange rate.
According to him, “buying and selling in the tourism industry has been almost negative and tourism has suffered serious damage, but no one talks about it.”
