Anwar Gargash added: “Success in managing this balance depends on a realistic assessment of the cards available to negotiators—an assessment that is far from exaggeration and escalation of tension.”

He emphasized: “Without a precise understanding of the balance of power, realism in assessment and balance in performance will cause efforts to reach a dead end.”

At the end, the diplomatic adviser to the president of the United Arab Emirates, without naming a country, referred to an old proverb in Arab culture and wrote: “Don’t be so hard and inflexible that you break, and don’t be so soft that they press you.”
