As the super typhoon “Champi” approaches Ishigaki Island in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, strong winds and heavy rain have swept over the region.

Taiwan’s meteorological agency has said it is expected that the typhoon will pass near the northeastern coast of Taiwan on Friday and Saturday and move toward China and Japan.
