🔸The Tenerife Club in Spain announced on Tuesday, October 12, that Jesús de Miguel, the team’s 30-year-old striker, died one day after a severe collision with the opposing goalkeeper during a match, during which he suffered cardiac arrest.

🔸The incident occurred in the match between Tenerife and Andorra in Spain’s second division league, when Jesús Ouno, the Andorra goalkeeper, came out of the penalty area to clear the ball and his knee collided with the striker’s chest.

🔸After the collision, De Miguel fell motionless to the ground and, despite the efforts of the medical staff and transport to a hospital, he died the next day. The match referee stopped the game and showed the Andorra goalkeeper a direct red card.

🔸Spain’s police have begun investigating the possibility of an accidental killing in this incident, but judicial authorities stressed that these investigations are a usual process when examining unnatural deaths and do not necessarily mean that a crime occurred.

🔸The European Football Union also stated that one minute of silence would be held before all European matches scheduled for this week in honor of this player.

🔸Real Madrid and Barcelona clubs also offered condolences for the death of this footballer in messages.
