A senior official of the Islamic Republic told Reuters on Tuesday, 12 Aban, that Washington and Tehran still have a long way to go in reaching an agreement to end the war, and that Tehran is not willing to accept Washington’s “excessive demands.”

The official said: “Mediators are working hard to reduce the differences between Tehran and Washington.”

The remarks were made as diplomatic efforts to prevent a possible return of military clashes between the Islamic Republic and the United States after this country’s midterm elections have intensified.
