Negar Mojtahedi, a journalist with Iran International, received the Bill Good Award 2026 on Monday at the 40th annual Websters Awards in Vancouver.
The award was presented in recognition of her reporting on war, government violence, and violations of human rights in Iran—work that has often been accompanied by serious threats to her personal safety.
Mojtahedi, an investigative journalist and documentary filmmaker based in British Columbia and host of the Iran International podcast “Eye for Iran,” received the award at a ceremony on November 2, held to honor the best works and activities in journalism in Western Canada.
When accepting the award, Mojtahedi dedicated it to the people of Iran, especially those who have lost their lives in the pursuit of demanding freedom, and emphasized the risks that journalists under the rule of the Islamic Republic face.
She said: “Journalism is my profession. It is something I have devoted my life to. But while journalism here in Canada is a profession, in Iran it is an action that requires extraordinary courage; an action that can cost you your life.”
