🔸 Support from Norway’s foreign minister for Pakistan’s mediation in the war in Iran

Media outlets have reported the support of Espen Barth Eide, Norway’s foreign minister, for Pakistan’s mediation in the war in Iran.

According to these reports, he on Thursday, 13 August, in a conversation with Shehbaz Sharif, his Pakistani counterpart, in Islamabad, discussed the situation in the region while also emphasizing the need for “open sea lanes.”

In a joint press conference, the Norwegian foreign minister, at the same time, called the United States’ war against Iran a “violation of international law” and said that Pakistan, by facilitating negotiations between the two countries in April—leading to a temporary peace agreement—“has served the world.”
